Necessary preliminary tasks: 

  1. Remove wind deflector  . Refer to 54 12 497 Removing And Installing/Replacing Wind Deflector For Glass Slide/Tilt Sunroof .
  2. Remove gaiter  . Refer to 54 12 015 Replacing Left Or Right Gaiter For Glass Slide/Tilt Sunroof .
  3. Remove glass slide/tilt sunroof lid  . Refer to 54 12 115 Removing And Installing Glass Slide/Tilt Sunroof Lid .
  4. Remove roofliner  . Refer to 51 44 011 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING ROOFLINER (WITH SLIDE/TILT SUNROOF) (Coupe only).
  5. Remove drive unit with gearing  . Refer to 67 61 515 REPLACING DRIVE WITH GEAR FOR ACTUATING SLIDE/TILT SUNROOF .
  6. Remove complete glass slide/tilt sunroof  . Refer to 54 12 211 Removing And Installing Complete Glass Slide/Tilt Sunroof .
  7. Remove rain channel  . Refer to 54 12 138 Removing And Installing/Replacing Rain Gutter For Glass Slide/Tilt Sunroof .
  8. Remove headliner  . Refer to 54 12 136 Removing And Installing/Replacing Roofliner For Glass Slide/Tilt Sunroof .

Installation: 

Follow the installation sequence from work steps  8 to  1.

Perform the following operations between work steps  3 and  2:
