Fan Shroud: Service and Repair

Replacing Fan Cowl (M54/M56)
Turn off ignition.
Lever out expansion rivets.
Remove intake hood (1).
Remove both hoses (1) from holders.
Lever out expansion rivets (2).
Lever out expansion rivet (1).
Remove secondary air cleaner housing (2) from fan cowl.
Detach plug (1) from AUC sensor.
Unfasten plug connection (2) and disconnect.
Lever out expansion rivet (1).
Release screw (2).
Lift out fan cowl.
Replacing Fan Cowl With Automatic Transmission (M54/M56)
Lever out expansion rivets and remove intake hood (1).
Remove fan impeller with fan clutch from water pump.
M52TU only: Unfasten plug connection (1) and disconnect.
M54/M56 only:
Detach plug (1) from AUC sensor.
Unfasten plug connection (2) and disconnect.
Release screw (1).
Lever out expansion rivet (1).
Gently press fan cowl in middle at top towards rear and unhook guide lug.
Lift out fan cowl and fan impeller together.
