Whenever the battery is disconnected, control modules will lose stored information that was generated either by direct operator input or as part of an adaptive strategy that adjusts vehicle operating parameters to compensate for operating conditions. If adaptive information was lost, it may be necessary to drive the vehicle ten or more miles to allow the control module to relearn that information.
