TEST PROCEDURE
NOTE: Review "Checking the Basics".
Requirements:
- Starting system okay (battery charged, ignition switch and starter okay, etc.)
- Ground connections on battery, engine and body okay.
- Specified gasoline in tank.
- Engine in perfect operating condition (timing, compression, etc.)
a. Check power supply for Digital Motor Electronic (DME) control unit according to wiring diagrams.
b. Measure input signals.
- Speed signal from crankshaft sensor (inductive pulse sender) at starting speed.
- Air flow sensor signals.
c. Measure output signals.
- Activation of fuel pump relay according to wiring diagram.
- Ignition final stage.
- Fuel injectors.
d. Test fuel pressure.
- Refer to appropriate component tests.
