Short Test Using Voltmeter:

1 Voltmeter
2 Switch for reversing light (OFF)
3 Connection to load disconnected
4 Rear light
5 Battery
A Short to ground

Measuring instrument: Voltmeter

Problem: Short to ground

Test Procedure:

Disconnect voltage source and connect voltmeter with test lead Disconnect the load. Move the lead to the load back and forth and observe the voltmeter reading. If the voltmeter registers a voltage there is a short to ground in the wiring.
