1992 BMW M5SECTION Transmission Versions & Control Systems

Each BMW Electro-hydraulic transmission has a corresponding control system. They are designated "GS" which stands for Transmission Control. This acronym is from the German words Getriebe Steurung. Each transmission can have more than one control system, this depends upon application (model year, series etc.). See Fig 1 and Fig 2 .

When to See a Mechanic
