SUBJECT: Replacement Labels: Vehicle Identification/Compliance Labels

General
Information: Attached to this S.I. is an illustrated sheet showing the various vehicle identification/compliance labels on BMW vehicles. Please use it as a guide when ordering replacement labels.

Ordering
Information: To order a replacement label, use only the enclosed form, which is also available from your Parts Department (see Parts Department Dealer Bulletin 1-22). Include all requested information, i.e. VIN, model, production date.
Please note that two items of required documentation are ALWAYS necessary. They are:
^ a legible pencil tracing or photo of the VIN stamped into the frame, the safety compliance label on the B pillar, or the VIN Plate on the dashboard.
^ VIN verification by BMW of North America personnel (for example District Service Manager, District Parts Manager, etc.).
Anti-theft labels, found on 14 major body parts and which contain the VIN or DOT-R, will not be replaced and are not to be removed under any circumstances. See also S.I. 00 21 86 (1267).
Send all requests for replacement labels to:
