SUBJECT: BMW Service Tester Diskette Version No. 2.1

Situation: A revised and expanded version of the Service Tester software has been developed.

Some of the systems found on the previous version Diskette No. 2 dated 1/87 have been improved along with the addition of the new systems found on certain 1988 models. See the back side of this S.I. for applications.

NOTE: DO NOT DISCARD Diskette No. 2 dated 1/87 (P/N 01 57 9 780 547). This diskette is still necessary for the systems not included in this new Diskette No. 2.1. Presently, both disks will have to be utilized to cover all components found in the vehicles.

Both disks cannot be placed into the Service Tester at the same time. If it is necessary to switch from one disk to another, the Service Tester must be switched OFF before removing the disk. The new disk can then be inserted and the Service Tester switched ON.

A new disk is presently being developed to consolidate both disks into one.

Note: 750iL only - while in DME, defect 23 - Oxygen Sensor Heating Relay, Cylinders 7 . . . 12 will be displayed. Disregard this defect as this vehicle only has one Oxygen Sensor Heating Relay which is monitored by the DME for cylinders 1-6.

One copy of Diskette Version No. 2.1 is being sent to you under the Automatic Tool Shipment Program attached to this SI.

Additional disks can be ordered through your Parts Distribution Center under P/N 01 57 9 781 247.
