The A/C Compressor has been diagnosed as faulty and will be replaced under warranty
TECHNICAL BACKGROUND
When performing replacement of an A/C Compressor under warranty, the amount of refrigerant and oil recovered must be documented.
PRODUCTION SOLUTION
Not applicable.
SERVICE
Use the Robinair A/C Service Unit to create a printed-out report showing the amount of refrigerant and oil recovered. This report must be submitted with the defective A/C compressor. Follow the steps below:
- Ensure that the A/C service unit shows the correct date and time (Figure 1). If the date and time are incorrect, use the menu to program the correct date and time before proceeding.
- Connect the A/C service unit to the vehicle.
- Perform a recovery of the system (Figure 2).
- Record values for RECOVERED
and OIL DRAINED
(Figure 3) on the repair order.
- Immediately after recovery, select the Print
button (Figure 4).
- When the SELECT PRINT TYPE screen opens, use the keypad to select 2) RECOVER CHARGE
(Figure 5).
- On the next screen, use the keypad enter the last 8 digits of the VIN then press the START/YES
key (Figure 6).
- The next screen will request the license plate (Figure 7). Entering the license plate is not necessary. Press the START/YES
key to continue.
- The A/C service unit will create a printed report (Figure 8). Send the printed report with the defective A/C compressor. Package the defective compressor in empty packaging from the replacement compressor.
