Transmission, Installing: Notes
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Engine Support Bridge 10 - 222 A
- Bracket for Engine 10 - 222 A /1
- Engine/Transmission Jack V.A.G 1383 A
- Transmission Support 3282
- Shackle 10 - 222 A /12
Procedure
Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:
- Transmission installation tightening specifications Transmission Installation Tightening Specifications .
Replace bolts that are tightened to the specification.
Replace self-locking nuts and bolts and sealing rings and seals.
Replace the clamps and the selector lever securing plate.
The hose connections as well as the air guide pipes and hoses must be free of oil and grease before installing.
Secure all hose connections with hose clamps of the same type as those equipped by the factory.
To secure the charge air hoses on their connections, spray the clamps used previously with rust remover before installing.
When installing, bring all cable ties back to same positions.
-- Check needle bearing in engine driveshaft. Refer to [For engine(s) CBRA] Removal and Installation or to [For engine(s) CCTA] Removal and Installation .
-- Clean input shaft splines and hub and remove corrosion.
-- Apply the clutch disc shaft spline grease very lightly to the splines . Remove any excess grease.
Vehicles with 4-Cylinder 2.0L Engine:
-- Check if the alignment sleeves -A- for centering the engine/transmission are in the cylinder block and insert them if they are not.
Vehicles with 6-Cylinder 3.2L Engine:
-- Check if the alignment sleeves -A- for centering the engine/transmission are in the cylinder block and insert them if they are not.
All Vehicles:
-- When installing a new transmission, check to see if the old drive flanges must be changed to fit the new transmission .
-- Carefully raise the transmission with the V.A.G 1383 A and bring it into the installation position using the 3282.
-- Insert transmission without pinching any lines.
-- Attach the transmission to the engine Transmission Installation Tightening Specifications .
-- Install subframe mount and follow installation sequence Transmission Side Subframe Mount Tightening Sequence .
