CONDITION
Release cover for front armrest fails to open, preventing access to storage compartment in armrest.
TECHNICAL BACKGROUND
Latch broken at holding point or handle pivot (Fig 1).
PRODUCTION SOLUTION
Improved construction material for the latch.
SERVICE
Replace armrest release handle assembly (part number 4F0 898 173 + color code). See repair manual in ElsaWeb: Body Interior Group 68: Interior equipment: Removal and Installation: Front Center Armrest Cover.
Do not replace the entire armrest cover.
