SERVICE

WARNING: Failure to use engine oil for your engine that expressly conforms to Audi Oil Quality Standard VW 502 00 can cause engine failure on the highway that can cause a crash and serious personal injury.

The oil must first conform to Audi Oil Quality Standard VW 502 00 in order to keep the vehicle's engine running smoothly and help prevent the formation of harmful sludge and deposits that can lead to expensive repairs. At the time of this printing, synthetic engine oils are the only ones Audi is aware of that meet the exacting Audi Oil Quality Standard.

ENGINE, OIL SERVICING

All scheduled Audi Maintenance services must always use engine oil that conforms to Audi Oil Quality Standard VW 502 00. No other engine oils may be used.

All topping off of engine oil between services must always use engine oil that conforms to the same Audi Oil Quality Standard VW 502 00.

ENGINE, OIL TOPPING OFF

It is recommended that the customer always carry a spare quart/liter of oil which meets Audi Oil Quality Standard VW 502 00 in case the engine oil level needs topping off while on the road. The spare quart/liter of oil should be stored in its original container, securely closed in the luggage compartment. Make sure the container is securely stowed.

Engine damage caused by using the wrong engine oil will not be covered by the applicable Vehicle Warranties.

WARRANTY

For a list of engine oils available in North America that conform to Audi Oil Quality Standard VW 502 00, refer to the Repair Manual  .

In the event that a customer needs to adjust the oil level between service intervals and cannot locate an engine oil that conforms to Audi Oil Quality Standard VW 502 00, advise the customer of the following (as stated in the Owners Manual  ):

Only if the level of the oil is at or below  the minimum mark on the oil dipstick, and no engine oil that expressly conforms to Audi Oil Quality Standard VW 502 00 specification is available, may you top off with a high quality engine oil, preferably synthetic, that meets ACEA A3, ACEA A5 or ACEA B5, API SL or ILSAC GF-3 specifications.

Even then, only  use viscosity grades SAE 5W-40, SAE 5W-30, or SAE 0W-40. However, during the entire time between oil change intervals, never top off with more than a total of 0.5 Qt./liter engine oil that does not conform to Audi Oil Quality Standard VW 502 00.

Tip:  Refer to the list in the appropriate section of the Repair Manual  for engine oils which meet the Audi Oil Quality Standard VW 502 00. A list is also available at → www.audiusa.com or → www.audicanada.ca.

WARRANTY

Warranty claims must always be filed using oil part number ZVW 352 540S, regardless of the brand of synthetic oil actually used for the repair on the vehicle.
