Selector Lever Cable, Adjusting
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Socket and KeyT40031
- Vehicle Diagnostic Tester
Procedure
- Vehicle Diagnostic Tester is connected.
-- Remove the frame for the selector lever boot -1- -arrows-.
-- Move the selector lever into "D".
-- Through opening -arrow- in shift mechanism, loosen bolt on selector lever cable approximately one turn using the Socket and KeyT40031.
Loosen the clamping screw approximately one turn but do not remove it.
The clamping screw is only accessible when the selector lever is in "D".
The selector lever must remain in "D" when the clamping screw is loose.
- Leave the Socket and KeyT40031 mounted on the clamping screw.
-- Switch ignition on.
- The "D" in the "PRNDS" display in the Transmission Range Display -Y6- must be lit.
-- Carefully move the selector forward and back gently without shifting into another selector lever position. This releases the tension in the selector lever cable.
-- Move selector lever into "tiptronic gate".
Do not touch the selector lever during the adjusting.
-- Without touching selector lever, tighten clamping screw in this position using Socket and KeyT40031. For the tightening specification refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE OVERVIEW .
-- Select the following menu entries on the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the Guided Functions :
- 02 - Transmission Electronics 09L
- J217 - Automatic Transmission, Read Measured Values Block
-- Select the Selector Lever and Hall Sensor Status Multi-Function Transmission Range Switch -F125 from the list on the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
-- Press the brake pedal and hold it down.
-- Press the locking button in the selector lever handle and slowly move the selector lever out of "P" through "R, N, D, S". While doing this, check the following displays.
The following displays must be aligned with the selector lever and be plausible:
- Transmission Range Display -Y6- in the instrument cluster
- Measure Selector Lever
- Measure Hall Sensor Status Multi-Function Transmission Range Switch -F125
If the values do not match:
-- Bring the selector lever cable into the basic setting. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, BRINGING INTO BASIC SETTING .
If the values do match:
-- Check the selector mechanism. Refer to SELECTOR MECHANISM, CHECKING .
If shift mechanism does not function properly after adjusting selector lever cable:
-- Bring the selector lever cable into the basic setting. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, BRINGING INTO BASIC SETTING .
