Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required 

  • Remote control V.A.G 1348/3 A with adapter cable V.A.G 1348/3-2
  • Multimeter V.A.G 1526 B or equivalent.
  • Connector test set V.A.G 1594 C.

Test requirements

  • Battery voltage at least 12.5 V.

  • Fuse 1 of right fuse panel in center bracket of instrument panel - - is OK.

  • Vehicles with MPI engine: Fuel Pump (FP) Relay -J17- in relay and fuse carrier, position - - in left electronics box is OK.
  • Vehicles with FSI engine: Fuel Pump (FP) Control Module -J538- OK; checking. → 20 - Fuel Supply Diagnosis and Testing
  • Fuel filter OK.
  • Ignition switched off.

  • Remove cover for right locking flange - arrows  -.

  • Disconnect electrical harness connector - arrow  - at locking flange.

  • Connect remote control V.A.G 1348/3 A with connection V.A.G 1348/3-2 to contact - - using an adapter cable from connector test set V.A.G 1594 C.
  • Connect contact - - to vehicle Ground (GND) using a jumper cable from connector test set V.A.G 1594 C.
  • Connect alligator clip to vehicle battery positive (+).
  • Press switch on remote control.
  • Running noise of pump must be audible.
NOTE:
  • The Fuel Pump (FP) runs quietly. Avoid surrounding noises while testing the fuel pump.

If no operating noise can be heard:

If no malfunction is detected in wiring, Fuel Pump (FP) is faulty. Replace fuel pump.
