Safety Warning
DIY auto repair can cause serious injury, fire, or vehicle damage. These guides are for informational purposes only. Always follow OEM torque specs, wear PPE, and consult a certified mechanic if you are unsure. You are solely responsible for your safety.
Function description
The production diagnostic function is a special mode for checking the wiring and functionality of the navigation system. For this, an automatic check of the individual malfunction locations is conducted and the result is stored permanently in a so-called function status register (Read Measuring Value Block 007).
The production diagnostic is either enabled or disabled via adaptation channel number 03. See PRODUCTION DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION (FUNCTION STATUS REGISTER), ENABLING/DISABLINGΒ .
The production diagnostic function is locked (disabled) when a navigation-CD is inserted.
The function status register is also reset via the "erase DTC memory" function.
