Selective Close Feature

1999 Audi A8 BaseSECTION Selective Close Feature

The selective close feature makes it possible to open just the driver's or the passenger's door including the fuel filler flap without locking the rear doors and the rear lid. You can also open just the rear lid without unlocking any door and the fuel filler flap.

To unlock either the driver's door, the front passenger's door or the rear lid insert the key into the respective lock and turn it one time. If your want to unlock all the doors and the rear lid turn the key twice.

When the power locking system is actuated, all locking knobs on window sills should move simultaneously. If one knob does not move when locking doors, open that particular door and close it properly.

When the driver's door is open, you cannot lock it due to a mechanical lock. This feature helps to prevent you from being locked out of your vehicle. When you unlock the vehicle from the outside, wait until all locking knobs are raised before you open one of the doors. In the winder, it can take a few seconds until all knobs are raised.

NOTE: In the event of an accident with airbag deployment all locked doors will be automatically unlocked to assist vehicle occupants from the outside.
