Misfire Recognition, Checking
- Connect VAG1551 or VAG1552 Scan Tool (ST) and press buttons -0- and -1- to insert "Engine Electronics" address word 01 (engine running at idle). Refer to "Scan Tool Testing/Scan Tool Connecting and Initial Checks/Connecting VAG1551 or VAG1552 Scan Tool" Testing and Inspection

- Check specified values for misfire recognition for bank 2 (display fields 1-4):
- Press button to advance program sequence.
- Press buttons -0- and -6- to select "End Output" (scan tool function 06), and press -Q- button to confirm input.
If displayed values in display groups 19 and 20 are outside the specified range:
- Check fuel level (too low)
- Check spark plugs
- Check fuel injectors. Refer to "Fuel Injectors, Checking", Testing and Inspection
- Check fuel injection volume Refer to "Fuel Injection Volume, Fuel Injector Leakage and Spray Pattern, Checking" Testing and Inspection
- Check ignition coils. Testing and Inspection
- Check power output stages. Ignition Coil Power Output Stages, Checking
- Check for mechanical malfunction
