CAN-bus Data Exchange Between Motronic ECM And ABS Control Module, Checking
DTC table indicates that CAN-bus be checked.
- Check DTC memory of ABS control module.
If a DTC pertaining to the CAN-bus is stored:
- Switch ignition off.
- Connect VAG1598/19 test box to ECM harness connector. Refer to "Scan Tool Testing/Scan Tool Connecting and Initial Checks/VAG1598/19 Test Box, Connecting" Testing and Inspection
- Check wiring from terminals C1 and C19 on Engine Control Module (ECM) to ABS control module for open or short circuit.
- If wiring connection is OK, replace either ABS control module or ECM.
