CAN-bus Data Exchange Between Motronic ECM And Automatic Transmission TCM, Checking
- Check Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory for Transmission Control Module (TCM).
- Switch ignition off.
- Connect VAG1598/19 test box to ECM harness connector. Refer "Scan Tool Testing/Scan Tool Connecting and Initial Checks/VAG1598/19 Test Box, Connecting" Testing and Inspection
- Check wiring for open or short circuit between TCM and ECM/test box sockets A9 and A10.
If wiring is OK:
- Temporarily replace ECM and/or TCM.
- Generate readiness code. Refer "Monitors, Trips and/or Drive Cycle (Readiness Code)/Generating, Readiness Code" Testing and Inspection
