Specifications for wheel alignment, Refer to Alignment, Specifications.
The camber cannot be adjusted!
By moving the sub-frame it is possible to center the wheel camber symmetrically within the specified tolerances.
^ Remove noise insulation tray.
^ Loosen all 4 bolts (-1- and -2-).
^ Loosen the two front bolts -1- until VAG 1926 can just be inserted between longitudinal member and subframe bushing.
^ Insert VAG 1926 so that it is as perpendicular as possible in relation to center axis of vehicle. Use setting screw to bring camber value into specified range.
Note:
^ Insertion of VAG 1926 on left in direction of travel, permits a positive shift in the left wheel camber and a negative shift in the right wheel camber.
^ Using the tool on the opposite side reverses the directions.
Loosen screw of special tool, check values indicated and correct if necessary.
Tighten both rear subframe bolts.
Removing special tool VAG 1926
^ At least two bolts must always be tightened so that the position of the sub-frame does not change!
^ Replace front subframe bolts with washers.
^ Replace rear subframe bolts with washers.
^ Toe-in must always be checked when camber has been corrected.
Extending springs on vehicles with standard suspension
^ Insert spacer gauge VAG 1925 with adapters VAG 1925/2 and screw both threaded stems out until they make contact with the front subframe bolts -1-.
Standard suspension
^ The alignment program now checks if the current toe-in value corresponds to the specified value
^ If necessary use tie rods to adjust toe-in.
Extending springs on vehicles with sports suspension
^ Position axle lift under front jacking points and raise vehicle.
^ Insert adapter VAG 1925/5 onto adapters VAG 1925/2 of spacer gauge.
^ Lower vehicle.
Note: Sports suspension
^ The alignment program now checks if the current toe-in value corresponds to the specified value.
^ If necessary use tie rods to adjust toe-in.
^ For the next work sequence it must be ensured that the wheels do not lose contact with the turn-tables during the lifting operation!
^ If this happens it must be ensured that the turn tables do not move as this will give false results!
^ Position axle lift under front jacking points and raise vehicle.
^ Move cylinders out of the threaded spindles.
^ Ensure that the locking pins -arrows are correctly positioned!
^ Lower vehicle onto spacer gauge.
