Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM) (Function 03) (Vehicles Without Side Curtain Airbag)
NOTE:
- The Output Diagnostic Test Mode may only be performed with the vehicle stationary and the engine not running!
- Any malfunctions identified by the Output Diagnostic Test Mode must be traced and repaired.
The Output Diagnostic Test Mode activates the following components in the stated sequence:
Activation sequence
1 Warning lamp in fog taillight switch
2 Cause alarm to trigger
3 Power supply lead to ultrasonic sensors
4 Clock signal lead to ultrasonic sensors
NOTE: No "ATWS alarm " can be triggered via this output DTM test. To trigger a "ATWS alarm", perform an output DTM via control module for central locking or a function test.
- Starting interior monitoring system On Board Diagnostic (OBD).
Indicated on display:
Rapid data transfer HELP
Select function XX
- Enter "03" for the "Output Diagnostic Test Mode" function and confirm entry with Q key.
Indicated on display:
Output Diagnostic Test Mode ->
Control lamp for alarm system -K95
Warning lamp in fog taillight switch is actuated.
- Press -> key.

Output Diagnostic Test Mode ->
Cause alarm to trigger
Control module for ultra-sound sensors is sending an alarm signal to the control module for central locking for a signal test.
- Press -> key.
Indicated on display:
Output Diagnostic Test Mode ->
Power supply lead
The control module sends a constant voltage of 8 V; wire test.
- Press -> key.
Indicated on display:

Clock signal lead
The control module sends a constant voltage of 5 V; wire test.

Test sequence
- Remove the two ultrasonic sensors.
- Detach connectors.
- Perform Output Diagnostic Test Mode and select control element test "Power supply lead".
Indicated on display:
Output Diagnostic Test Mode ->
Power supply lead
- Connect multimeter for voltage measurement between contacts 2 (positive) and 2 (Ground (GND)).
- Specification: 8 V
- Terminate Output Diagnostic Test Mode.
- Re-install ultrasonic sensors.
Checking clock signal lead
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
- V.A.G 1526A
Test sequence
- Remove the two ultrasonic sensors.
- Detach connectors.
- Perform Output Diagnostic Test Mode and select control element test "clock signal lead".
Indicated on display:
Output Diagnostic Test Mode ->
Clock signal lead
- Connect multimeter for voltage measurement between contacts 1 (positive) and 3 (Ground (GND)).
- Specification: 5 V
- Terminate Output Diagnostic Test Mode, Check DTC Memory and erase.
- Re-install ultrasonic sensors.
