Power Steering Pump: Installation
1996 Audi A4 Base, StandardSECTION Installation
NOTE:
Prior to installation, add hydraulic fluid to suction end of power steering pump. Turn pump by hand, until fluid emerges from discharge end.
- Add hydraulic fluid to suction end. Turn power steering pump until fluid emerges from discharge end. Tighten bolts (1 and 2) to 15 ft. lbs. (20 N.m). See Figure .
- On model year 1997 and up, install pressure line and tighten banjo bolt (2) to 37 ft. lbs. (50 N.m). Install suction hose (1). Mark "P", on suction hose must align with seam on pump. See Fig 1 . Remove 3094 hose clamps. See Figure .
- On other model years, install pressure line, and tighten banjo bolt to 37 ft. lbs. (50 N.m). Install suction hose (1). See Figure .
- Install and tighten bolts for water pump pulley. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONSΒ .
- Install fan at viscous coupling, and tighten. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONSΒ .
NOTE:
Always install NEW seals.
NOTE:
Adjustment of V-belt tension for coolant pump is not possible.
