NOTE:
DTC is set with ignition on when voltage signal is more than 10.8 volts for more than 15 seconds. If fuel level in fuel tank is too low (less than 3.2 gallons), combustion misfire, HO2S and fuel system malfunctions can occur. If any of these malfunctions occur, DTC P0461/16845 is also set.
- Ensure PCM coding is correct. See PCM CODINGΒ in this article. Ensure fuel tank contains more than 3.2 gallons of fuel. Ensure fuel gauge in instrument cluster if functioning properly. Correct problems as necessary. Erase DTC memory and test drive vehicle.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connectors. Connect VAG 1598/19 test box to PCM wiring harness. Terminal assignments of test box are identical to PCM connectors "A", "B", "C", "D" and "E".
- Using DVOM, check wiring harness between PCM and instrument cluster. See WIRING DIAGRAMSΒ section. Repair wiring harness as necessary. Erase DTC memory and test drive vehicle.
