Checking Fluid Level

1996 Audi A4 Base, StandardSECTION Checking Fluid Level

Remove oil filler plug. See Fig 1. Oil level should be up to lower edge of filler hole. Add if necessary. Install filler plug and tighten to 18 ft. lbs. (25 N.m). When filling with NEW oil, remove plug (arrow). For recommended fluid, see RECOMMENDED FLUIDΒ . Top off oil to lower edge of filler hole. Install filler plug.
