If using Plastigage to check rod bearing oil clearance, DO NOTΒ  fully tighten bearing cap bolts. Instead, tighten bolts to 15 ft. lbs. (20 N.m). If rod bearing oil clearance is not within specification, replace rod bearings. See CRANKSHAFT, MAIN & CONNECTING ROD BEARINGSΒ  table under ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS. Replace rod bearing cap bolts after first use. Tighten bolts to proper specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONSΒ .
