Ignition Lock Cable: Service and Repair

NOTE After installing the lock cable at the ignition/starter switch, the cable must first be adjusted, then attached to the selector lever housing.
REMOVAL
- Remove center console, refer to Body and Frame.
- Remove steering wheel, refer to Suspension and Steering.
- Remove instrument cluster, refer to Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.
- Move selector fever to "N" position.

- Remove bolts (arrows).

- Remove cover (No 1 in illustration)
- Remove spring clip (No 2 in illustration) and lock cable (No 3 in illustration).
Lock cable can be lifted out of mounting lug at ignition/starter switch by turning cable -3- approx. 1/4-turn (90°).
- Remove lock cable clip at air duct, and remove cable.
INSTALLATION

- Insert lock cable from above, into mounting lug on ignition/starter switch.
Flattened sides of cable and mounting lug must be aligned.
- Turn cable end down approx. 1/4-turn (90°).
- Secure lock cable with spring clip (No 2 in illustration).
NOTE: When installing, make sure that the spring clip is engaged properly or the cap cannot be installed.
- Install cover (No 1 in illustration) on ignition/starter switch.
