PURPOSE
The Engine Speed Sensor provides the ECM with constant engine speed for use in Ignition timing control and Idle speed control.

OPERATION
The Engine Speed Sensor scans the teeth on the starter ring gear. The sensor scans the number of teeth per unit of time to produce an engine speed signal. This signal is used for engine speed and ignition timing angle.
