Engine Control Module: Service and Repair

Removing

- Switch ignition OFF.

CAUTION!:
BEFORE disconnecting the ECM harness connector, switch the ignition OFF and WAIT at least 30 seconds. Failure to do so may damage the ECM.

Trim Panel Removal:




- Remove cover from lower right A-pillar.
- Pull back carpeting in right front foot well.

Panel Screw Locations:





- Remove screws (arrows) from electronics box cover.
- Carefully pull upper and lower cover out of electronics box.
- Disconnect ECM from electronics box.

Brace:





- Carefully remove brace -3- along with attached parts.





- Remove screws (arrows) securing ECM to electronics box.
- Remove ECM from electronics box and remove ECM connectors.

Installing

- Ensure that ignition is switched OFF.

CAUTION!:
DO NOT connect ECM with ignition switched ON.

- Connect ECM harness connectors to ECM.





- Install screws (arrows) securing ECM to electronics box.

Brace:





- Carefully install brace -3- along with attached parts.

Central Electronics Box:





- Carefully install lower cover onto electronics box so that tabs engage slots.

Central Electronics Box:





- Carefully install upper cover onto electronics box so that tabs engage slots.

- Screw both covers of electronics box to each other.
- Cover electronics box with carpeting again.
- Reinstall A-pillar cover.
