Coding A/C Control Head (Function 07)

NOTE: Always initiate "Basic Setting" function 04 after coding the A/C control head. Basic Setting (Function 04)

Connect VAG1551 Scan Tool (ST) and VAG1551/1 adapter to Data Link Connectors (DLC) as follows:





- Remove cover from auxiliary relay panel 1 in plenum.
- Connect black connector to black DLC:
- Terminal 1 to: Ground (GND)
- Terminal 2 to: Battery positive voltage (B+) to VAG1551
- Connect white connector to white DLC.
- Blue connector is not used.

NOTE: If there is no display on the VAG1551 scan tool, check the B+ power supply to the black DLC. Data Link Connector (DLC) Wiring, Checking

Indicated on display (Operating modes 1 and 2 are displayed alternately):
V.A.G. - ON BOARD DIAGNOSTIC HELP
1 - Rapid data transfer
2 - Blink code output
- Switch ignition on.
- Press the "PRINT" button to switch on the scan tool printer (indicator lamp in button comes on).
- Press button -1- to select "Rapid data transfer" operating mode 1.

NOTE:
- Press the "HELP" button for additional information.
- Press the -> See button to advance the OBD program sequence.

Indicated on display:

Insert address word XX
Press buttons -0- and -8- to insert "AC/Heating Electronics" address word 08, and press -Q- button to confirm input.

If the display appears as shown:

Control module does not answer
Check DTC memory.

A/C control head identification and coding are displayed:

Coding 00062 WSC 23890

- A/C control head coding may be displayed with or without the 1st and 2nd digits (e.g. 062 instead of 00062), depending on the VAG1551 scan tool program card version.
- Replacement A/C control heads come with code "000" and must be coded after installation. After installation erase DTC memory and carry out basic setting.
- For correct part number and application.

Using buttons on VAG1551 scan tool, enter coding for A/C control head according to A/C compressor type, engine cylinder configuration and market version. See Above.
