Hardware Failsafe
The control module of the CPU for the windshield wiper control unit/motor in case of an abnormality is as shown in the table.
| Output Name | Fixed Value |
|---|---|
| Motor Drive Circuit | All OFF |
| CAN Communication Circuit | OFF |
Failsafe at the Time of a Wiper Switch Signal Abnormality
When the wiper switch signal from the MICU cannot be received normally by the B-CAN system, the control is as shown in the table.
| Vehicle Mode | Wiper Switch | Failsafe Operation When Wiper is Active | Failsafe operation When Wiper is Not Active | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | OFF (LOCK) mode | - | Parking operation | No operation (Remains stopped) |
| 2 | ON mode | OFF | ||
| 3 | ON | High mode | High mode |
Failsafe From Auto Mode
When the auto wiper signal from the automatic lighting/rain sensor cannot be received normally by the B-CAN system, due to an abnormality, the control is as shown in the table.
| Previous Operation in AUTO Mode | Failsafe Operation | |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | High | High continued |

Thermal Protection Function
Also the intelligent controlled wiper system performs thermal protection control to prevent excess heat generation by the windshield wiper control unit/motor due to abnormal load. If the temperature of the windshield wiper control unit/motor exceeds the protective action temperature, the wiping speed is reduced, and is restored once the temperature falls below the reset action temperature.
