2015 Acura RLXSECTION Removal

NOTE: 

  • Use fender covers to avoid damaging painted surfaces.
  • To avoid damaging the wiring and terminals, unplug the wiring connectors carefully while holding the connector portion.
  • Mark all wiring and hoses to avoid misconnection. Also, be sure that they do not contact other wiring or hoses, or interfere with other parts.
  1. Hood - Wide Open

    1. Disconnect the support struts from both sides of the pivot ball (bolted to the hood). Secure the hood in a vertical position. Install the left side pivot ball into the lower threaded hole.

    NOTE:  Do not attempt to close the hood with the support strut in the vertical position, as it will damage the support strut and hood.

  2. Front Strut Brace - Remove
  3. Fuel Pressure - Relieve
  4. Engine Cover - Remove
  5. Front Grille Cover - Remove
  6. Battery Negative Terminal - Disconnect
  7. Starter Cable - Disconnect

  8. Battery - Remove
  9. Splash Separator - Remove

  10. Air Cleaner - Remove 
  11. Skid Block - Remove
  12. Connector (PCM) - Disconnect

    1. Disconnect the connectors (A).

    2. Remove the harness clamp (B).

  13. Fuel Feed Hose - Disconnect

    1. Remove the quick-connect fitting cover (A), then disconnect the fuel feed hose (B) .
  14. EVAP Purge Hose - Disconnect

    1. Disconnect the EVAP purge hose (A).

    2. Move the EVAP purge joint (B) from the bracket (C).

  15. Steering Joint - Disconnect

    NOTE:  Hold the steering wheel using the steering wheel holder tool.

  16. Radiator Cap - Remove
  17. Vehicle - Lift
    1. Raise and support the vehicle .
  18. Front Wheel - Remove
  19. Engine Undercover - Remove
  20. Engine Coolant - Drain
  21. Engine Oil - Drain
  22. ATF - Drain
  23. Connector (Secondary HO2S) - Disconnect 
  24. Exhaust Pipe A - Remove
  25. Tie-Rod End Ball Joint - Disconnect
  26. Damper Fork Mounting Bolt and Nut - Remove
  27. Knuckle Holder - Disconnect
  28. Driveshaft - Remove
  29. Vehicle - Lift
    1. Lower the vehicle.
  30. Heater Hose - Disconnect

  31. Radiator Assembly - Remove
  32. Alternator - Remove
  33. A/C Compressor - Remove

    NOTE: 

    • Do not disconnect the A/C hoses.
    • Do not bend the A/C hoses excessively.
    • Hang the A/C compressor with a wire tie.
  34. Under-Hood Fuse/Relay Box - Move

    1. Move the under-hood fuse/relay box without disconnecting the harness.
  35. Connector (Engine Wire Harness) - Disconnect

    1. Disconnect the connectors (A).

    2. Remove the harness clamps (B).

  36. Battery Cable - Remove

    1. Remove the cables (A).

    2. Remove the harness clamps (B).

    2. Disconnect the connector (A).

    3. Remove the harness clamps (B).

    1. Remove the connector bracket (A) from the front cylinder head; use the bracket bolt hole (B) to attach the engine hanger balance bar front arm.

    1. Remove the harness bracket (A) from the rear cylinder head; use the bracket bolt hole (B) to attach the 2008 V6 attachment arm.
  40. Engine Support Hanger - Install

    NOTE: 

    • Be careful when working around the windshield.
    • Two sets of AAR-T1256 are required for stacking additional cross section bars.
    • Be careful not to damage the hood opener cable when installing the engine support hanger at the front bulkhead.

    1. Install the engine hanger balance bar. Attach the front arm (A) to the front cylinder head with about a 10 mm (0.39 in) spacer (B) and a 10 x 1.25 mm bolt (C). Remove the rear arm from the engine hanger balance bar, then install the 2008 V6 attachment arm. Attach the 2008 V6 attachment arm to the rear cylinder head with about a 10 mm (0.39 in) spacer (D) and an 8 x 1.25 mm bolt (E).

    2. Install the engine support hanger onto the vehicle as shown, and attach the hook to the slotted hole in the engine hanger balance bar. Tighten the wing nut (F) by hand, then lift and support the engine/transmission.

  41. Front Engine Mount Stop and Front Engine Mount Mounting Bolt - Remove

    1. Remove the No. 6 cylinder ignition coil

    2. Remove the front engine mount stop (A).

    3. Remove the front engine mount mounting bolt (B).

    4. Disconnect the connector (C) and the harness clamp (D).

  42. Rear Engine Mount Stop and Rear Engine Mount Mounting Bolt - Remove

    1. Remove the rear engine mount stop (A).

    2. Remove the rear engine mount mounting bolt (B).

  43. Vehicle - Lift
    1. Raise the vehicle.
  44. Connector (EPS Control Unit) - Disconnect

    NOTE:  Wrap the connectors with vinyl tape to avoid contamination from grease or water.

  45. Transmission Ground Cable - Disconnect (Transmission Side)
  46. Lower Transmission Mount - Remove
  47. Front Subframe Middle Mount Rubber Mounting Bolt - Loosen

    1. Loosen the front subframe middle mount rubber mounting bolts (A) on both sides.
  48. Front Subframe - Support

    1. Attach the subframe adapter to the front subframe by looping the belt (A) over the front of the front subframe, then secure the belt with its stop (B), and tighten the wing nut (C).

    2. Raise a transmission jack and line up the slots in the subframe adapter arms with the bolt holes on the transmission jack base, then securely attach them with four bolts.

  49. Front Subframe - Remove
  50. Vehicle - Lift
    1. Lower the vehicle.
  51. Chain Hoist - Attach

    1. Attach a chain hoist (A) to the engine hanger (B) and the transmission hanger (C), then lift the engine/transmission until it's securely supported by the chain hoist.

    2. Remove the engine support hanger, the engine hanger balance bar, and the 2008 V6 attachment arm.

    NOTE:  Do not remove the TORX bolt (A) from the upper transmission mount. If the TORX bolt is removed, the upper transmission mount must be replaced as an assembly.

  54. Engine - Remove
    1. Check that the engine/transmission is completely free of the vacuum hoses, the fuel hoses, the coolant hoses, and the electrical wiring.

    2. Slowly lower the engine/transmission about 150 mm (5.91 in). Check once again that all the hoses and the electrical wiring are disconnected and free from the engine/transmission, then lower it all the way and support it.

    3. Remove the chain hoist from the engine/transmission.

    4. Raise the vehicle, and remove the engine/transmission from under the vehicle.
