2012 Acura TL BaseSECTION Symptom Troubleshooting Index
  1. Check for B-CAN DTCs. If any B-CAN DTCs are indicated, troubleshoot and resolve them first.
  2. If the door lock system and the keyless operation do not work, troubleshoot the door locks first.
NOTE: The system does not function when the ignition switch is ON (II), or the vehicle ignition is in the ON mode.
Symptom Check Items Also check for
All the doors will not lock or unlock with driver's door key cylinder or door lock switch or keyless transmitter
  • Poor ground (G203, G401, G402, G405, G601, G651)
  • Driver's door key cylinder switch test (see DOOR KEY CYLINDER SWITCH TEST  )
  • Door switch test (check the door switch ON/OFF information with the HDS)
  • Door lock switch test (check the door switch ON/OFF information with the HDS)
  • Door lock actuator test (see DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR TEST  )
  • Driver's MICU input test (see CONTROL UNIT INPUT TEST  )
  • Passenger's MICU input test (see CONTROL UNIT INPUT TEST  )
  • Check the UART line
    • An open in the wire
    • A short to ground wire
    • A short to power wire
 
Driver's and left rear doors will not lock or unlock with driver's door key cylinder or door lock switch or keyless transmitter
  • Poor ground (G401, G402, G601)
  • Blown No. 24 (20 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box
  • Blown No. 25 (15 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box
  • Driver's MICU input test (see CONTROL UNIT INPUT TEST  )
  • Door multiplex control unit input test (see CONTROL UNIT INPUT TEST  )
 
Front passenger's and right rear doors will not lock or unlock with driver's door key cylinder or door lock switch or keyless transmitter
  • Poor ground (G203, G401, G405, G651)
  • Blown No. 1-2 (AS F/B STD) (40 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box
  • Blown No. 10 (10 A) fuse in the passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box
  • Blown No. 13 (20 A) fuse in the passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box
  • Passenger's MICU input test (see CONTROL UNIT INPUT TEST  )
  • Door multiplex control unit input test (see CONTROL UNIT INPUT TEST  )
 
Keyless operation does not work (LOCK, UNLOCK, PANIC) Symptom troubleshooting (see KEYLESS OPERATION DOES NOT WORK (LOCK, UNLOCK, PANIC)  ) Customized settings in the multi-information display (MID), see Owner's manual for details
Doors will not unlock (or lock) with the transmitter, but will unlock (or lock) with the door lock switch and the door key cylinder switch  
Doors automatically relock 30 seconds after being unlocked with the transmitter even though a door has been opened  
Only driver's door will unlock or door locks relock immediately after unlocking with the remote Driver's door lock knob switch test (see DOOR LOCK KNOB SWITCH TEST  )  
Trunk lid release actuator will not work when the trunk lid outer handle switch is pressed
  • Lock knob switch is faulty
  • Open lock knob switch unlock input wire
  • Door lock actuator is faulty
