Key Interlock Solenoid Test

NOTE: SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations Locations, and precautions and procedures Service and Repair before doing repairs or servicing.

1. Remove these items:

- Lower steering column cover Steering Column Cover Removal/Installation
- Driver's dashboard lower cover Driver's Dashboard Lower Cover Removal/Installation

2. Disconnect the steering lock 6P connector (A).






3. Insert the ignition key in the key cylinder, then turn the ignition key to ACCESSORY (I).

4. Connect the positive battery terminal to steering lock assembly connector terminal No. 4, and connect the negative battery terminal to terminal No. 3. Check that the ignition key cannot be turned to LOCK (0). Release the battery terminals, and check that the key can be turned to the LOCK (0) position and removed from the cylinder.

5. If the key interlock solenoid works improperly, replace the ignition key cylinder/steering lock Service and Repair.

6. Install these items:

- Lower steering column cover Steering Column Cover Removal/Installation
- Driver's dashboard lower cover Driver's Dashboard Lower Cover Removal/Installation
