Trim Removal/Installation - Rear Side Area
Special Tools Required
KTC trim tool set SOJATP2014 *

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations (see COMPONENT LOCATION INDEX ) and the precautions and procedures (see PRECAUTIONS AND PROCEDURES ) before doing repairs or service.
- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when prying components.
- Take care not to bend or scratch the trim and panels.
- Remove these items:
- Tailgate weatherstrip, as needed (see TAILGATE WEATHERSTRIP REPLACEMENT )
- Rear door opening seal, as needed (see step 4 )
- Rear door sill trim (see REAR DOOR SILL AREA )
- Rear trim panel (see TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - CARGO AREA )
- Cargo area floor (see TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - CARGO AREA )
- Seat side bolster (see SEAT SIDE BOLSTER )
- Cargo area lid (see CARGO AREA LID )
- Remove the hook (A) of the cover from the pin (B) of the tailgate each side trim, then pull out the cargo area cover (C) to release the lock (D) and remove the cover.
- Open the lid (A) and remove the screw (B), then remove the cargo hook (C) (two places).
- Remove the cargo area side trim panel (A).
- Using the appropriate trim tool, pry out the lid (B) from the cargo area side trim panel (C), then remove the bolts (D) of the rear side hanger (E).
- Remove the clips (F), then remove the trim panel back by hand to detach the clips (G).
- Pull out the upper edge of the panel back to release the upper hook (H) from the quarter pillar trim (I).
- Pull the rear seat belt out through the slit in the seat belt retractor cover, then remove the cargo area side trim panel.
- Driver's side: Disconnect the cargo area light connector (J).

Passenger's side
- Remove the screws and release the hooks (A) from the panel, and remove the seat belt retractor cover (B) and side trim hanger (C).
- Install the trim in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Check if the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, and if necessary, replace them with new ones.
- Make sure the cargo area light connector is plugged in properly.
- When installing the panel, make sure there are no pinches in the seat belt.
- Push the clips and hooks into place securely.

- • Brakes feel soft, pull hard to one side, or make grinding noises.
- • The engine overheats, stalls repeatedly, or misfires under load.
- • You are missing required tools, torque specs, or safe lifting equipment.
