Audio-HVAC Display Module Removal/Installation
SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations (see COMPONENT LOCATION INDEX ) and the precautions and procedures (see PRECAUTIONS AND PROCEDURES ) in the SRS before doing repairs or service.
- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Take care not to scratch the dashboard and related parts.
- Lay a workshop towel under the parts when working on them to protect the face panel from scratches or other damage.
- Do not work in a dusty or dirty environment.
- Discharge static electricity from your body before and during the work.
- Do not touch the circuit board with your bare hands.
- Be careful not to fold the flat plate cable.
- Do not touch the terminal connector of the flat plate cable with your bare hands. (If you have touched it, wipe it off thoroughly.)
- Eject all the discs before removing the audio unit to prevent damaging the CD player's load mechanism.
- If you are replacing the audio unit, write down the audio presets (if possible), and enter them into the new audio unit.
- Make sure you have the anti-theft codes for the audio and navigation system.
- Remove the driver's inner dashboard trim (see DRIVER'S INNER DASHBOARD TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ) and passenger's dashboard trim (see PASSENGER'S DASHBOARD TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
- Remove the center console panel (see step 2 on CENTER CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
- Remove the center upper pocket (see step 3 on CENTER CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
- Remove the center lower pocket (see step 4 on CENTER CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
- Remove the hazard warning switch.
- Remove the screws and bolts. Disconnect the audio-HVAC display module connectors (A) and the antenna lead (B), then remove the audio-HVAC display module.

'06-08 models
- Install the audio-HVAC display module and note these items:
- Make sure all connectors are secure.
- Enter the anti-theft codes for the audio system, then enter the audio presets, and set the clock.
- If needed, enter the navigation system anti-theft code.

When to See a Mechanic
Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:
- • You smell fuel, burning insulation, or see smoke.
- • Brakes feel soft, pull hard to one side, or make grinding noises.
- • The engine overheats, stalls repeatedly, or misfires under load.
- • You are missing required tools, torque specs, or safe lifting equipment.
- • You are not confident in the next step or safety outcome.
