SERVICE INFORMATION
If you replace an OnStar radio frequency (RF) unit or an OnStar control unit, you must synchronize the RF unit to the control unit. You must also register the new unit(s) with OnStar. If you don't synchronize and register, OnStar won't work.
To synchronize, start the engine, then press and hold the "dot" button on the rearview mirror. The OnStar LED indicator changes from green to red, then back to green. The total process only takes about 20 seconds. When the LED turns back to green, the synchronization, sometimes called a handshake, is complete.
To register, call OnStar dealer support (not using OnStar) at their new number, 888-390-4050, and register the new serial numbers: STID and ESN. Make sure you remind the support staff to update the customer's OnStar personal calling profile.
