SERVICE INFORMATION
Whenever you add or delete keys, add or delete remotes for keyless access or one-push start vehicles, or replace components for the immobilizer, keyless access, or one-push-start systems, you must do HDS immobilizer registration.
The new HDS software 3.009.003 makes that job go quicker and easier. As long as you're connected to the Internet and logged into the iN from the HDS, you no longer have to go to another PC and get a 1st password or PCM code from the Immobilizer Code Inquiry screen on the iN. The HDS automatically handles that for you!
When you first connect to the vehicle with the HDS, make sure you log into the iN. Then, select the applicable system (IMMOBI, KEYLESS ACCESS , or ONE-PUSH START ) and the task you want to do. The immobilizer registration process remains pretty much the same as it was, except when you'd be asked to enter a 1st password or PCM code, you'll now see this new screen instead:
It's just like going into the iN's Immobilizer Code Inquiry screen, but without leaving the vehicle. Talk about a time saver!
Just enter your DPTS ID and the last four digits of your Social Security Number on the right side of the screen, and click on Submit . After that, it's just a matter of following the screen prompts to complete the registration process.
Now, suppose you can't log into the iN from your HDS PC. In that case, you'll need to go to another PC that's logged into the Internet, log into the iN, and go to the Immobilizer Code Inquiry screen. Then, enter the required info, and click on Submit .
You'll notice the Immobilizer Code Inquiry Acknowledgment screen has a slightly different look than before.
You'll still see the old codes and passwords on the left, but now there's a new PCM code and release password on the right. What to use depends on the HDS software version on your PC.
If it's 3.009.003 or later, you want the new PCM code and release password on the right. The new immobilizer registration process no longer uses the 1st or 2nd passwords. On your HDS PC, click on the PCM CODE icon on the left side of the screen, and enter the PCM code from the manual entry screen that comes up.
If you're still using earlier software, the old codes and passwords on the left still apply. But keep in mind, they'll eventually go away, so it's a good idea to get that software updated within 3 days .
And just so you know, we've covered this info in the Tech2Tech segment "HDS Software 3.009.003: Immobilizer Registration Changes." So, be sure to check it out.
