2004 Acura 3.5RLSECTION Deflection Method
  1. Apply a force of 22 lbs. (98 N), and measure the deflection between the power steering pump and the crankshaft pulleys.
  2. Adjust belt to specifications. See POWER STEERING BELT ADJUSTMENT - DEFLECTION METHODΒ .
  3. Remove the air cleaner.
  4. Loosen the power steering pump mounting nut and bolt.
  5. Turn the adjusting bolt to get the proper belt tension, then retighten the nut and bolt.
  6. Start the engine and turn the steering wheel from lock-to-lock several times, then stop the engine and recheck the deflection of the belt.
  7. Install the air cleaner.
