WARNING:
Accidental air bag deployment is possible. Personal injury may result. Avoid bumping SRS unit if ignition is on, or has been turned off for less than 3 minutes.
- Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONSΒ . Erase DTC memory. See ERASING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE MEMORYΒ . Turn ignition on. If indicator light stays on, go to next step. If light goes off after about 6 seconds, system is okay at this time. See TROUBLESHOOTING INTERMITTENT FAILURESΒ .
- Disable passenger side-impact air bag. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEMΒ . Check for poor contact between SRS floor harness 4-pin connector and passenger side-impact sensor. If connection is okay, go to next step. If connection is faulty, reconnect SRS floor harness 4-pin connector securely.
- Disable both side-impact air bags and both seat belt tensioners. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEMΒ . Disconnect SRS floor harness 4-pin connector from passenger side-impact sensor. See Figure. Disconnect SRS floor harness 18-pin connector from SRS unit. See Figure. Measure resistance between SRS floor harness 18-pin connector terminal No. 14 and terminals No. 8, 9, 11 and ground. If resistance is one megohm or greater, go to next step. If resistance is less than one megohm, replace SRS floor harness.
- Connect SRS floor harness 4-pin connector to SRS Test Box (07XAZ-S1A0100). See Figure. Measure resistance between SRS floor harness 18-pin connector terminal No. 14 and SRS test box terminal No. 1. If resistance is one ohm or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than one ohm, replace SRS floor harness.
- Replace passenger side-impact sensor. See SIDE-IMPACT SENSORSΒ under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If problem persists, replace SRS unit. See SRS UNITΒ under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
