- Test battery.
- Check fuel pressure. See BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES article.
- Check manifold absolute pressure sensor (MAP) circuit. See DTC P010x: MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE SENSOR CIRCUIT PROBLEM in appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article.
- Check barometric pressure sensor (BARO) circuit. See DTC P1106, (P2227 MDX): BAROMETRIC PRESSURE SENSOR CIRCUIT RANGE/PERFORMANCE PROBLEM in appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article.
- Check for intake air leaks.
- Check for contaminated fuel.
- Engine overheating.
- Check engine compression. See MECHANICAL INSPECTION under PRELIMINARY INSPECTION & ADJUSTMENTS in BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES article.
