ORVR Vent Shut Valve Float Test

NOTE: ORVR vent shut valve may also be referred to as fuel tank vapor control valve.

Ensure fuel tank is less than half full. Remove fuel filler cap to relieve fuel tank pressure, then reinstall cap. Remove fuel hose joint protector. Disconnect ORVR vapor recirculation hose and connect to vacuum pump/gauge. Plug ORVR vapor recirculation pipe. See Figure. Apply vacuum to ORVR vapor recirculation hose. If vacuum holds, replace ORVR vent shut valve. If vacuum does not hold, the float is okay. Perform valve test. See ORVR Vent Valve TestΒ .
