System Diagnosis

1998 Acura Integra RS, AutomaticSECTION System Diagnosis

TCM monitors transaxle operation. TCM contains a self-diagnostic system which stores a DTC if a transaxle electronic control system failure or problem exists. If DTC is stored, TCM will turn on and blink "D4" light. See Figure . If a transaxle electronic control system failure or problem is suspected and "D4" light on A/T gear position indicator does not flash, see "D4" INDICATOR LIGHT CIRCUIT CHECKΒ  under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS. DTC can be retrieved using scan tool connected to Data Link Connector (DLC) located behind center console, behind ashtray. Flash code may also be retrieved for diagnosing transaxle electronic control system.
