Malfunction Indicator Light (Mil)

1998 Acura Integra RS, AutomaticSECTION Malfunction Indicator Light (Mil)

As a bulb check, MIL illuminates for 2 seconds when ignition is on and engine is not running. MIL also illuminates when a system failure has been detected and a corresponding DTC has been set in PCM memory. Not all trouble codes will activate MIL. If MIL comes on and no DTCs are stored in memory, problem may be caused by an intermittent electrical problem and not necessarily a faulty component. See INTERMITTENTS in TESTS W/O CODES article.
