Malfunction Indicator Light (Mil)

1998 Acura 3.5RL Special EditionSECTION Malfunction Indicator Light (Mil)
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1998 Acura 2.3CL. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

As a bulb check, MIL illuminates for 2 seconds when ignition is on and engine is not running. MIL also illuminates when a system failure has been detected and a corresponding DTC has been set in PCM memory. Not all trouble codes will activate MIL. If MIL is on and no DTCs are in memory, problem may be intermittent. See INTERMITTENTS in TESTS W/O CODES article.
