Cranking Test

1998 Acura 3.5RL Special EditionSECTION Cranking Test
  1. Connect a voltmeter and ammeter to battery. See Fig 1. On Integra, remove fuse No. 44 from underhood fuse/relay box. On 3.2TL and 3.5RL, disconnect 8-pin and 6-pin connectors from ignition control module. Ignition control module is located on right strut tower. On SLX, disconnect two 3-pin connectors and one 4-pin connector from ignition control module. Ignition control module is located on rear of intake manifold. On 2.5TL disconnect 4-pin connector from ignition coil. Ignition coil is located on firewall, behind right strut tower.
  2. On all models, use remote starter switch to crank engine. Check cranking voltage and current draw. Ensure voltage is at least 8 volts. Current draw should be less than 350 amps. Cranking speed should be greater than 100 RPM.
