Cranking Test
1998 Acura 3.5RL Special EditionSECTION Cranking Test
- Connect a voltmeter and ammeter to battery. See Fig 1. On Integra, remove fuse No. 44 from underhood fuse/relay box. On 3.2TL and 3.5RL, disconnect 8-pin and 6-pin connectors from ignition control module. Ignition control module is located on right strut tower. On SLX, disconnect two 3-pin connectors and one 4-pin connector from ignition control module. Ignition control module is located on rear of intake manifold. On 2.5TL disconnect 4-pin connector from ignition coil. Ignition coil is located on firewall, behind right strut tower.
- On all models, use remote starter switch to crank engine. Check cranking voltage and current draw. Ensure voltage is at least 8 volts. Current draw should be less than 350 amps. Cranking speed should be greater than 100 RPM.
