The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is the 17-digit number used to register the car for licensing, insurance and warranty purposes. It is located on a plate fastened to the top of the dashboard and can be seen through the windshield from outside the vehicle. It is also on the Certification label attached to the driver's door jamb, and is stamped on the engine compartment bulkhead.
