Toyota Matrix transmission fluid by year and gearbox
There is no single Matrix transmission-fluid type or refill amount. The checked 2003 and 2008 automatic examples specify Toyota Type T-IV; the checked 2009 and 2013 automatics specify Toyota ATF WS. Confirm the model year, engine, drivetrain and installed automatic or manual transmission before servicing or ordering fluid.
Capacity is not the amount to add after every drain
The checked 2009 1.8 L automatic table labels 2.60 US qt as a drain-and-refill amount; the 2009 2.4 L FWD automatic labels 3.70 US qt. The 2013 tables publish much larger 6.90–8.60 US qt figures and call them reference quantities, despite also carrying a “Drain and Refill” label. Treat those 2013 figures as reference capacities only. Measure what drains and follow the exact transmission fill and level-check procedure.

Quantity and scope: The checked table has 3.30 US qt for FWD and a separate 4.30 US qt row. It does not clearly identify a routine drain-and-refill quantity.
Do not fill from either number without the matching service procedure.
