Nissan Versa Oil Type and Capacity by Year
There is no one oil grade or refill amount for every Versa. The manual examples checked here use SAE 5W-30 through 2017 and SAE 0W-20 starting with the inspected 2018 Versa 1.6 S. Capacity also changes by generation and the oil-filter service operation.
These are examples tied to the exact manual selections below, not verified coverage of every trim, engine, transmission, body style or market. Confirm the engine and model year before filling. Drain/refill amounts are not the same as dry-fill or overhaul amounts.
The grade transition is between these checked Versa examples
The earlier generic page grouped 2013–2018 as 0W-20, but the checked 2017 manual specifies 5W-30 while the 2018 manual specifies 0W-20. Earlier checked 2008, 2011, 2012 and 2013 manuals also specify 5W-30. Use the year/engine manual, not the broad “2010+” rule on the previous page.

2008–2013 examples: engine and body style change the amount
These inspected examples all list SAE 5W-30, but their oil quantities are not interchangeable. A 2008 1.8L sedan, 2011 1.8L sedan, and 2012 1.6L sedan have different refill amounts. The 2012 source also separates engine drain/refill from overhaul capacity.

2014–2016 and 2017 examples
The checked 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 Versa 1.6L manual tables list SAE 5W-30 and 3.70 qt with filter or 3.38 qt without filter. The 2018 Versa 1.6 S source changes to SAE 0W-20 while retaining the same two amounts in that selection.
2019–2024 examples: 0W-20, different refill amounts
The checked 2019 Versa 1.6 S table lists 3.75 qt with filter and 3.40 qt without. The 2020–2023 Versa S CVT tables list 4.33 qt with filter and 4.01 qt without; the 2024 table lists 4.38 qt with filter and 4.01 qt without. All these checked tables specify SAE 0W-20. Do not carry one generation’s refill quantity across these years.
