the engine control module (ECM) calculates the status of the signal from the transmission control module (TCM) via CAN.
P/N engaged = gear selector is in "Park" or "Neutral".
P/N disengaged = gear selector position is not in "Park" or "Neutral".

When to See a Mechanic
