Warm engine to normal operating temperature. Turn engine off. Disconnect and plug distributor vacuum lines. Connect timing light. Start engine. With engine at correct idle speed, check timing. If timing is not to specifications, correct by turning distributor.

When to See a Mechanic
Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:
